YORK, Pa. — Editor's note: The attached video is from a December 2023 broadcast.
On Monday, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation announced that the temporary barrier located on the southbound side of the Route 74 (Queen Street) bridge spanning Interstate 83 in York County has been removed.
All lanes are now open to traffic on the bridge, PennDOT announced in a press release. Some finishing work planned for Tuesday and Wednesday will require short-term lane restrictions on the southbound side of the bridge, according to PennDOT.
Motorists should be alert and drive with caution through the work zone.
The work is associated with a project to repair the bridge after it was struck by multiple vehicles, PennDOT confirmed. Steel beams that were heat-straightened will be painted at a later date.
JD Eckman, Inc., of Atglen, PA, is the contractor on the project.
