Fire chief: 11 people ingest toxic mushrooms in York County, transported to nearby hospital

Eleven patients, reportedly both adults and children, were transported to WellSpan York and are in stable condition, according to the Delta-Cardiff fire chief.

YORK COUNTY, Pa. — Police and emergency crews responded to the scene of what dispatchers are calling a "mass casualty" event in York County.

According to the Delta-Cardiff fire chief, the incident happened at a private residence along the 200 block of Burke Road in Peach Bottom Township. Troopers responded to reports of individuals ingesting "toxic mushrooms." 

The coroner was not called. Eleven patients, both adults and children, were transported to WellSpan York Hospital and are in stable condition, according to Delta-Cardiff Fire Chief Laura Taylor. 

Pennsylvania State Police and the Delta-Cardiff Volunteer Fire Department responded to the scene.
