Police investigating attempted child luring case in Dover Township

A 14-year-old Dover High School alleged that she was walking to school when a man in a dark blue pickup truck with a missing front bumper began calling after her.

YORK COUNTY, Pa. — York County police are investigating an alleged case of attempted child abduction in Dover Township.

According to the Northern York County Regional Police Department, on April 11 at 8:03 a.m., police were notified of the incident reported along the 2400 block of W. Canal Road. 

A 14-year-old Dover High School student reported that she was walking to school eastbound on W. Canal Road when she reported a dark blue pickup drove eastbound passed her. The pickup reportedly pulled over onto the shoulder of the road in front of the Dover Township Municipal building and stopped for several seconds. 

The truck then reportedly pulled into the municipal building parking lot and parked facing W. Canal Road. 

The teen reported that she walked by the location of the car and the driver yelled out for her to come over to the truck. She continued walking when the pickup truck pulled out from the parking spot and behind the teen. 

The teen reported that the driver yelled at her again when she walked into the lawn of the Dover Township building. 

The man then drove away east on W. Canal Road, he never exited the truck during the incident. 

The teen described the driver as a Black man between 30-50 years old with short hair, a muscular build and was wearing a white T-shirt. The teen reported that it stood out to her that the pickup truck was missing its front bumper.
