YORK COUNTY, Pa. — The power has been restored at York County SPCA after a Tuesday storm caused damage to power lines near the shelter.

The shelter took to Facebook to thank every single person who supported them throughout the power outage. In two days, the kennel was nearly cleared, according to staff members.

"Thank you to everyone who fostered an animal, donated to cover the care of our animals, expressed words of encouragement and support and shared our social media posts!" the Facebook post read.

Special shout-outs were given to Kinsley Construction for supplying generators to the shelter. Tail County Pet Resort, Patton Veterinary Hospital and Morgan's Paw Care Center were also thanked, plus all the people who provided temporary foster homes for the animals.

Over the next few days, staff members plan to assess the next best steps, deep clean the kennel and wash a backlog of laundry, according to the Facebook post.

"Our canine team is going to be working to reach out to all of our current temporary canine fosters to provide updates and further instructions," the post reads. "If you have the capability to continue fostering a dog for 1-2 weeks, this will allow our staff to have time to recover and evaluate steps moving forward so we can get our shelter up and running again."

The shelter is also asking the public to foster dogs for 1-2 weeks who will be returning from their temporary foster homes so the shelter can continue to recover. Those interested in filling out a foster application form can find one here

The YCSPCA team also wrote on Facebook that they are going through a high volume of emails due to the phone lines being down throughout the outage. The public should expect delayed response time as the team continues to reply to everyone as quickly as possible.

Those with any additional questions or concerns have been asked to email info@ycspca.org or call the front desk at 717-764-6109 ext. 101. Those who call have been asked to leave a message so staff members can return the call as soon as they can.
