York County Coroner's Office seeks help identifying next-of-kin of woman who died after being struck by vehicle

YORK, Pa. — The York County Coroner's Office said Wednesday it is seeking information on the next-of-kin of a 72-year-old York woman who was killed when she was struck by a vehicle in the city on Oct. 2.

Ruth Helen Emel, of the 300 block of West Market Street, was walking in the crosswalk when she was struck by a vehicle turning onto West Market Street from North Penn Street at about 5:19 p.m., according to York County Coroner Pamela Gay. Emel was critically injured, and died of her injuries on Oct. 5 at Wellspan York Hospital, Gay said.

Gay's office is seeking help identifying any next-of-kin for Emel. 

Her cause and manner of death will be released pending notification of next-of-kin, Gay said.
