YORK, Pa. — Update, March 23: Police say Lysias Jesus Delgado turned himself in on Friday afternoon. He is at York County Prison awaiting his preliminary hearing.
Previous: Police are investigating a shooting that injured one person Thursday in York County.
It occurred at 5:16 p.m. at a mobile home park on the 5100 block of Susquehanna Trail, according to Northern York County Regional Police.
Officers dispatched to the scene found a 38-year-old male victim, who had sustained a gunshot wound to the left arm/shoulder. He was taken to York Hospital for treatment and is listed in stable condition, according to police.
Witnesses were able to provide information on the shooter, identifying him by his street name “Kato," police said.
“Kato” was described as a teenage male from the Philadelphia area, who had been staying in the mobile home park for several months and after an altercation earlier in the day, was told by the victim that he needed to leave, according to police.
“Kato” left the area at an unknown time, police said.
Prior to the shooting, “Kato” returned with two other people in a white Dodge Durango, police said. A verbal confrontation ensued between the victim, “Kato”, and a woman that was with him. The confrontation escalated and “Kato” produced a black handgun, pointed it at the victim’s head, and fired. The bullet struck the victim in the shoulder area.
“Kato” and the other occupants of the Durango fled the scene, police said.
There is no registration information available for the vehicle.
Investigators were able to identify “Kato” as 17-year-old Lysias Jesus Delgado of Philadelphia.
He is charged as an adult with the following crimes:
- Criminal Attempt Homicide
- Aggravated Assault
- Firearms not to be carried without a license
- Possession of a firearm by a minor
- Recklessly endangering another person
- Simple Assault with a deadly weapon
