Social media used to threaten Hanover Middle School

The individual behind the threat was identified and the threat was deemed not credible.

HANOVER, Pa. — Hanover Public School District were made aware on Thursday night of a social media post threatening students at Hanover Middle School.

Police determined there was no credible threat to student or staff safety, and school is in session as usual today.

The individual who posed the threat was identified and criminal charges are being filed.

Hanover Public School District is dedicated to student safety. For this reason, we want to inform you that the district was made aware of a social media post threatening students at Hanover Middle School. With the help of concerned students, community members, staff, administration and the Hanover Borough Police Department, the person was identified. The police verified that the post did come from the individual’s cell phone. The police have confiscated the cell phone and criminal charges are being filed. We are pleased that the actual threat was not credible. School will be in session tomorrow as normal. School counselors will be on hand tomorrow to help any students who may have been affected by the threat.
