Tensions grow as transparency wanes with warehouse soon to be next to cemetery

Groups of people continue to protest the construction of a warehouse that would be right next to the Prospect Hill Cemetery in York County.

YORK COUNTY, Pa. — Community members who are looking to stop the construction of a warehouse next to the Prospect Hill Cemetery in York County continued to protest Sunday.

People gathered in Manchester Township to bring awareness to others in the area regarding the planned construction.

Organizers say they think development would disrupt the landscape and be disrespectful to those with loved ones buried there.

They also told FOX43 that they have had a hard time communicating with the township on the issue.

"We've seen renderings, and we've asked them 'this is what we're seeing advertised', and they say, 'Well no plans have been submitted'. There's so little transparency and we just hit a wall every time we ask questions about what might be there," said Matt Gallagher, a protestor at the event.

The Manchester Township Planning Commission's next meeting is slated for this Wednesday, March 29, at 6 p.m. The next Board of Supervisors meeting is scheduled for April 11 at 6 p.m.

No agendas are available for either meeting.
