YORK COUNTY, Pa. — WellSpan Health joined with a nonprofit to help community members overcome physical and cognitive challenges.
WellSpan Health was in York County on Monday and teamed up with the nonprofit Spokes Fighting Strokes for a free demonstration to show how adaptive cycles can empower people.
Dan Zimmerman, the founder of Spokes Fighting Strokes, suffered a stroke and is now touring the country on an adaptive cycle. Zimmerman is showing people how they can overcome their disability and regain independence.
"Don't give up," Zimmerman said. "Get a trike [and] follow my footsteps."
Zimmerman started his tour in Arizona at the beginning of the year and will finish at the end of the year in Florida.
