YORK, Pa. — Current York Mayor Michael Helfrich (D) will not seek reelection to his office, instead choosing to support the York City Police Department's commissioner Michael Muldrow in his bid.
Muldrow announced his intentions to run for mayor during New Year's Eve celebrations in York.
Helfrich says he believes the commissioner has done a "tremendous job with the police department and that he has all the skills to get the job done."
The current mayor has been in office since 2018.
