YORK, Pa. — The York City School District switched to virtual learning Monday, but the district's announcement on its Facebook page did not specify why.
The school district's announcement, which was posted this morning, reads:
"Monday, December 11 will be a virtual day for all students in the York City School District. Teachers and staff will still report to their buildings. All students will return to school on Tuesday, December 12. A robocall will be sent out tomorrow morning relaying this message."
Parents and guardians commented on the school district's Facebook page, saying the switch was due to a threat made online, and criticized the school district for keeping them in the dark.
The post drew more than 100 comments, some of which accused the district of covering up the reasoning behind the switch.
"Tell the truth and share what was posted," said one. "The parents of this district deserve at least that! How do you expect us to send our kids to school with a peace at mind, when you guys won’t share the threats that were made."
FOX43 has reached out to the school district for a statement but has not heard anything back at this time.
