YORK COUNTY, Pa. — A York County man has reportedly died after being hit by a vehicle while on a walk on Tuesday.
According to the York County Coroner's Office, Terry Zeigler, 79, of Springettsbury Township, was fatally struck by a motor vehicle just after 9 p.m. in the area of 2100 East Market Street while attempting to cross the street to return home.
Zeigler was a resident at Autumn House East, where he reportedly would often sign out of the facility to walk around the East York Area. The Coroner's Office stated that Zeigler was using a walker at the time of the incident.
On the date of his death, Zeigler neglected to sign out and left the facility, which had reported him missing to police. He was also wearing dark clothes and not easily seen at the time of the incident.
Zeigler was transported from the scene to WellSpan York Hospital and was pronounced dead soon after arriving.
The driver involved is cooperating with police.
