YORK, Pa. — An inmate at York County Prison was pronounced dead at UPMC Memorial Hospital Tuesday morning after suffering an apparent "medical-related event" at the prison, coroner Pamela M. Gay said.
Todd Sidesinger, 56, of York, was an inmate at the facility, Gay said. He was transported to the hospital after the medical emergency at the prison, and was pronounced dead at 7:47 a.m.
Sidesinger had recently been hospitalized for some known medical issues, Gay said. He began having medical-related symptoms Tuesday morning and was evaluated at medical personnel at the prison before being taken to the hospital.
Staff at UMPC Memorial Hospital attempted lifesaving measures, but they were unsuccessful, Gay said.
An autopsy has been scheduled for Wednesday morning at Lehigh Valley Hospital in Allentown, Gay said.
Deputy Coroner Molly York is investigating and certifying the death, according to Gay.
