YORK, Pa. — Authorities are investigating the death of an inmate at York County Prison after he returned from a work release program Monday morning.
The York County Coroner's Office said Cristian Deweert-Laboy, 28, from York is believed to have suffered a fatal overdose.
He was pronounced dead at 9:50 a.m. Deweert-Laboy was found unresponsive in his cell following his return from a work release program, according to York County Coroner Pamela Gay.
Despite lifesaving efforts from authorities at the prison, he was unable to be revived.
The final results of the autopsy are still pending, including Deweert-Laboy's specific cause and manner of death.
State Police are investigating the incident.
