YORK, Pa. — The York County SPCA on Monday touted the success of last weekend's "Clear the Shelters" adoption event.
The SPCA waived all adoption fees on Saturday and Sunday and successfully found homes for more than 100 animals.
Nearly every animal that was available for adoption found a new home during the event, the York County SPCA said.
"At this time...we have two dogs in the shelter and nine in foster care that are available for adoption," the shelter said in a statement. "This is the most empty we have seen our kennel in two years. We are so incredibly grateful to our staff, volunteers, community and of course, the families that adopted this weekend."
The Clear the Shelters event was held Saturday and Sunday at the Brougher Companion Animal Shelter as part of National Clear the Shelters Month.
