YORK, Pa. — Editor's note: The attached video is from a July 2023 broadcast.
Big changes may be coming to the 2024 York State Fair.
Bryan Blair, the now-former CEO, announced on Saturday that he will be resigning from his position at "America's 1st Fair".
"It has nothing at all to do with July/September, or any kind of issues whatsoever with the Fair or Board," Blair said in his statement. "The simple fact of the matter is that I made the decision to resign so that my wife and I can move back home to Kentucky to be near our family including our five grandkids."
"I was offered an opportunity to work in Business Development for North American Midway Entertainment, which is the largest midway provider in the nation, and a significant part of my job will include working from home," Blair continued. "The Board and staff at the Fair/Expo Center have been nothing but supportive over the last five and a quarter years, and we've accomplished a lot together toward improving the York State Fair and the York Expo Center."
Blair finished his statement by saying, "It's bittersweet leaving in many ways, but we are excited for the opportunity to move back to Kentucky, and I'm looking forward to being part of the team at North American Midway Entertainment."
The resignation comes months after 2023 marked the second year in a row that the Fair was hit by heat waves, which caused dips in attendance numbers.
