YORK COUNTY, Pa. — The York Water Company will be expanding into Lancaster County.
JT Hand, the president and CEO of the company, announced Monday that The York Water Company has closed an acquisition of the Houston Run Company Water System in Salisbury Township, adding approximately 24 commercial/industrial water customers.
This is the company's second water system acquisition in Lancaster County. On Sept. 26, York Water purchased the water system assets serving the commercial and industrial properties in the Houston Run Industrial Park.
“This is another important acquisition for York Water as we expand our services in Lancaster County," Hand said. "This system was constructed and has been operated by a commercial developer since its inception. With the Houston Run Industrial Park built out and a more complex regulatory environment, the seller sought a responsible utility company to assume ownership and operation."
"There is significant demand for public water service in this area and York Water will bring the resources and utility experience to extend service beyond the industrial park," Hand continued. "York Water looks forward to providing exceptional water services to the business community in the Houston Run Industrial Park and continuing our collaborative relationship with Salisbury Township.”
The York Water Company reportedly provides water and wastewater services to over 210,000 people in 57 communities and visitors in Adams, Franklin, York and Lancaster Counties.
"We’ve enjoyed getting to know The York Water Company leadership through this process and look forward to their service to these important commercial and industrial property owners in Salisbury Township," said Salisbury Township Manager Kristen Peachey.
