YORK, Pa. — After days of posting cryptic hints on social media, the York State Fair revealed the first band signed to perform in 2025 -- and it's a big one.
Legendary country band Alabama will return to the stage at the York Fairgrounds at 8 p.m. on Friday, July 25, organizers announced on Facebook.
Tickets will go on sale at 10 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 8, according to Fair organizers. They range in price from $65-$80.
Next year's concert will be a record 21st appearance at the York State Fair by Alabama, a legendary country act that traces its origin all the way back to 1969.
Fair organizers tried to raise interest in their announcement by posting hints about the mysterious first act on Thursday.
The first clue was a picture of the Tennessee River, which was the band's first No. 1 single.
The second hint, a photo of a Mason-Dixon Line sign posted Thursday night, was an apparent reference to Alabama's 1983 hit, "Dixieland Delight."
Alabama produced 27 songs that reached No. 1 on the country music charts in the 1980s. In addition to "Tennessee River," and "Dixieland Delight," their chart-toppers include "Mountain Music," "Love in the First Degree," "If You're Gonna Play in Texas (You Gotta Have a Fiddle in the Band)," and "Song of the South," among many others.
The group disbanded in 2004 after a farewell tour, but reunited in 2010 and have been playing together ever since. Randy Owen and Teddy Gentry are the only original members of the band currently performing.
