LITITZ, Pa. — Kids with an entrepreneurial spirit don't have to wait until adulthood to get a jump on their dreams.
Creators, crafters, entertainers and entrepreneurs ages 17 and younger are invited to peddle their wares at the Young Makers Market at Bricker Village this weekend. Over 20 young makers will sell a little bit of everything, including iced tea, jewelry, Lego creations, plants and more.
"We really encourage the kids to be the ones that are talking to the customers," Tracy Scipioni, owner of Roots to Wings Studio and Designs at Bricker Village, said. "We want them to get comfortable in that situation. So just address the kids, ask them questions, ask them how they got their passion and why they're doing what they're doing."
Scipioni started her studio about a year ago with the goal of encouraging young people in the business world. She and the Village's marketing director then hatched a plan to help young kids show off their creations and learn about the work that goes into running a business.
"It has been really awesome to see how everything has come together," Katelyn Scipioni, Tracy's daughter and a young entrepreneur/artisan featured in the shop, said.
"To see how far it's reached and to see that people appreciate my artwork and that people in other states are wearing it is just truly amazing to see that," she added.
This will be the third Young Makers Market hosted at Bricker Village, which is a unique shopping destination in Lancaster County that features a collection of independently owned and operated small businesses.
The next Makers Market will take place from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 29. There will be another Young Makers vendor event on Sept. 14. Those interested in participating can fill out the signup sheet online.
Attendees are recommended to bring cash. Bricker Village can be found at 2 E. 28th Division Highway in Lititz.
