WASHINGTON — Big Lots has added more than 50 locations to its ongoing store closing list, the discount retailer revealed as part of its Chapter 11 bankruptcy process.
In a Oct. 11 filing, the Columbus, Ohio-based company identified 56 additional locations it plans to close across 27 states.
This comes just one week after Big Lots identified 46 other locations it plans to close across 23 states. Each of those stores are currently running closing sales, according to the company's online store locator.
In the month of September, after filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection, the retailer's initial store closing list grew from 344 to 451.
The latest round would bring the total number of planned and completed closures to more than 550.
The company previously said it plans to sell its assets and ongoing business operations to private equity firm Nexus Capital Management.
The below list shows all of the Big Lots store closings announced on Oct. 11. Texas has the most locations closing on the list with seven. That's followed by California (4), Ohio (4) and Washington (4).
