WASHINGTON — "Good Morning America" host Michael Strahan's absence from the morning show is stretching into a third week, but his co-anchor suggests a return could be on the horizon.

On Sunday, the former NFL star did return to "Fox NFL Sunday" after missing the previous two weeks.

But when viewers tuned into "Good Morning America" on Monday, Strahan was missing yet again. However, Strahan is often absent on Monday mornings during football season because the network morning show is based in New York and Fox's NFL coverage typically films in Los Angeles.

The 51-year-old made his last appearance on "GMA" on Oct. 26.

While Strahan's absence wasn't addressed at the start of the show on Monday morning, "GMA" co-anchor Robin Roberts assured a fan on social media that Strahan will "be back soon."

Why has Michael Strahan been missing from "GMA"?

Last week, ABC released a statement explaining that Strahan was going to be out for at least the remainder of the week as he dealt with "some personal family matters."

Strahan has been tightlipped about the personal matter so far and has not publicly disclosed details about his absence. It is unclear when he'll return to his hosting duties at "GMA."

The former professional football player has been a full-time staple of the ABC morning news show since 2016 after he left "Live with Kelly and Michael."

On Sunday, Strahan joined the rest of the "Fox NFL Sunday" team for a special Veterans Day weekend broadcast from the U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado.

Strahan, who played for 15 years in the National Football League with the New York Giants, is a father to four children. He shares two adult children, Tanya and Michael Jr., with his first wife Wanda Hutchins. His 19-year-old twins Isabella and Sophia are from his second marriage with Jean Muggli.
