Pennsylvania Senate race may not be over yet

There could still be a recount in the Casey, McCormick race.

PENNSYLVANIA, USA — The long holiday weekend is over, and it's back to the vote count that should decide if Dave McCormick is Pennsylvania's new senator or if Bob Casey goes back to Washington for another term.

Republican Dave McCormick says this race is over. Democrat Bob Casey says it isn't, and the rest of the state is still looking for answers Tuesday morning.

Here is the latest, and here is what both sides apparently agree on. McCormick leads Casey by about 36,000 votes, but there are still about 100,000 votes left to be counted.

The Associated Press declared McCormick the winner. Casey will not concede the race until every last vote is counted.

As we reported on Monday, current Senate majority leader Chuck Schumer of New York declined to invite McCormick to a Senate orientation. McCormick took to "X" on Veterans Day to say he was going anyway.

Republican senators said they would escort McCormick to the orientation in Washington, even if Schumer didn't want him there.

If the current numbers hold, McCormick will win by nearly sixth-tenths of one percentage point. According to Pennsylvania law, there is an automatic recount if the margin is one-half of one percent or less.

According to ABC News, 98% of the Pennsylvania vote has been counted.

Both sides are racing the clock here. According to state law, the Pennsylvania secretary of state has until Thursday to order a recount.
