DAUPHIN COUNTY, Pa. — After a long election season, Election Day 2024 is finally here and Americans can make their voices heard on the national and local level.
One of the local races is between Republican Nick DiFrancesco and Democrat Patty Kim for the Pennsylvania Senate seat in the 15th district.
Before this year's election, Sen. John DiSanto held the district since 2016.
Kim is looking to move from her role in the state house and flip the 15th senatorial district after the Republican Senator announced his retirement.
“It’s for education, it’s for reproductive rights, it’s for affordable housing and so today is just about saying hi to people folks and thanking them for coming out, and then we’re hoping for good results tonight,” said Patty Kim, (D) Nominee for 15th Senatorial Seat.
While on the other side of the aisle, Republican nominee Nick DiFrancesco is looking to keep the 15th district seat red.
“Certainly the economy has been a big issue and education has been a big issue and probably under-spoken this season where most of the attention has been on the national level. So going door to door has been the issue,” said Nick DiFrancesco, (R) Nominee for the 15th Senatorial Seat.
In Dauphin County at Thomas Holtzman Elementary, residents arrived at the doors for the school as early as 5:50 am.
“It's always important to vote, make sure your voice is heard. Choose the way the country is headed and actively participate in all the decision process,” said Benjamin Rand, Dauphin County Voter.
During both Kim and DiFrancesco's interviews with FOX43, both candidates said win or lose and that they would accept the results.
