LEBANON COUNTY, Pa. — Republican incumbent Dan Meuser was victorious in his bid to return to Congress Tuesday night, defeating Democratic challenger Amanda Waldman in the 9th District.

Meuser, 60, has served in the House of Representatives since his first election victory in 2018.

The 9th Congressional District covers all of Lebanon, Schuylkill, Montour, Bradford, Columbia, Northumberland, Sullivan, Susquehanna, and Wyoming counties, as well as portions of Berks, Luzerne, and Lycoming Counties.

A strong supporter of Donald Trump, Meuser was among the 147 Republican House members who voted against the certification of the 2020 election results on January 6.

Before he got into politics, Meuser was an executive at Pride Mobility Products, a business he built with his father and brother. The company, located in the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre area, manufactures motorized wheelchairs. He still serves the company as a board member and consultant.

He also served as head of the Pennsylvania Department of Revenue from 2011-2015 under Gov. Tom Corbett.

Meuser is opposed to abortion and believes that the unborn are entitled to protection under the 14th Amendment of the U.S. Constitution.

This is the second time that Meuser has defeated Waldman in an election. In 2022, he beat his Democratic challenger by nearly 40 points, an advantage of more than 116,000 votes.

In 2020, Meuser defeated challenger Gary Wegman, earning 66.3% of the vote.

Meuser released the following statement after his re-election was announced:

"I am grateful to the people of Pennsylvania's Ninth District for entrusting me once again to represent our community in Washington. When I first ran for office, I promised to deliver the best constituent services in Congress, and I am confident we’ve fulfilled that pledge. My team and I remain committed to providing top-tier services to the residents of our region to ensure their needs are met effectively and in a timely manner.

“In Washington, my priority remains pursuing legislation that is in the best interest of the vast majority of Americans—including growing our economy, securing our border, promoting American energy dominance, and restoring peace through strength. I’ll continue working to advance common-sense solutions that strengthen our economy, create jobs, make the cost-of-living more affordable, and keep our communities safe.

“While it is still early in the night, I am confident that Republicans will retain the House majority, take the majority in the Senate, and that Donald J. Trump will be elected the 47th President of the United States. Unified Republican leadership across our government would empower us to advance policies that promote fiscal responsibility, reduce burdensome regulations, curb illegal immigration, and defend our national security. Together, with President Trump’s leadership, we will pursue an agenda that puts America and working families first.

“To every volunteer, supporter, and member of my campaign team—thank you for your dedication and hard work. And to the voters of the Ninth District, thank you for your trust and your vote. Your support is invaluable, and I look forward to continuing serving you in Washington.
