What should I bring with me to the polls?

To ensure your vote is counted on Nov. 5, here's what to bring to your local polling place.

HARRISBURG, Pa. — For first-time voters or those new to the area, here's what's needed to ensure your voice is counted on Election Day.

Those who haven't voted before or are voting in a new place are required to bring a photo or non-photo ID.

Voters may use one of the following forms of photo identification, so long as it is not expired, canceled, or revoked:

  • Pennsylvania driver’s license or PennDOT ID card
  • ID issued by any Commonwealth agency
  • ID issued by the U.S. Government
  • U.S. passport
  • U.S. Armed Forces ID
  • Student ID
  • Employee ID

For those without a photo ID, use one of the following so long as it includes a name and address:

  • Confirmation issued by the county voter registration office, such as a voter registration card.
  • Non-photo ID issued by the Commonwealth
  • Non-photo ID issued by the U.S. Government
  • Firearm permit
  • Current utility bill
  • Current bank statement
  • Paycheck
  • Government check

For repeating voters, no ID is necessary! Voters don't have to show ID again unless they move or are assigned to a new polling place.

In Pennsylvania, polls are open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.

The busiest times of day to vote are typically in the morning and evening, according to the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania

Those in line at or before 8 p.m. will still be allowed to cast their vote.
