President Biden to visit Harrisburg Sunday

After a planned rally in Philadelphia was cancelled, Biden will attend an ice cream social in the Harrisburg area.

HARRISBURG, Pa. — President Joe Biden will attend an ice cream social in Lower Paxton Township on Sunday.

The event is by invitation only.  Welcome guests received notices about the ice cream social on Friday, according to reports.

FOX43 does have confirmation from the Dauphin County Democratic Committee that the president is scheduled to visit. A campaign official stated, “On Sunday morning, President Biden will deliver remarks at a church service in Philadelphia. In the afternoon, the President will head to Harrisburg where he will participate in a campaign community event.”

Biden was originally scheduled to attend a rally in Philadelphia. However, that event was canceled due to a strike by the National Education Association, to whom he was going to speak. Campaign officials say the president will not cross a picket line.

President Biden is trying to restore voter confidence after a debate performance against Republican challenger and former President Donald Trump on June 27 that left many wondering whether he should continue his campaign, including some members of the Democratic Party. Speculation has since run rampant on whether or not the President will drop out of the race.

In a nationally televised interview this week, the president insisted he is fit and will not be dropping out of the race.

It would be Biden's first trip to Harrisburg since 2020.
