PENNSYLVANIA, USA — The race for Pennsylvania State Senate District 13 has been announced, according to the Associated Press.
Incumbent Scott Martin (R ) defeated challenger Trex Proffitt (D) to represent District 13, which covers parts of Lancaster and Bucks Counties. Proffitt advanced as a write-in from the Democratic primary on April 23, 2024.
Martin advanced from the Republican primary on April 23, 2024, with nearly 21,000 votes. He first assumed office on Dec. 1, 2016, and won re-election in 2020 after defeating challenger Janet Diaz by over 14,000 votes.
Martin is a lifelong Lancaster County resident with deep roots in the community, according to his biography. He currently serves as Chair of the Senate Appropriations Committee and has previously served as Chair of the Senate Education Committee and Senate Local Government Committee.
Outside of his Senate responsibilities, Scott also serves as Chairman of the Pa. Athletic Oversight Committee and was elected as Chair of the Chesapeake Bay Commission for 2023, according to his biography.
He’s also volunteered as a youth sports coach in wrestling and football.
