Lancaster City Bureau of Police prepare for traffic delays ahead of Trump visit

Former President Donald Trump is expected to make a campaign stop in Lancaster which may affect downtown traffic on Sunday.

LANCASTER, Pa. — Republican Presidential nominee Donald Trump is expected to host a town hall event at the Lancaster County Convention Center on Sunday.

Although the event begins in the afternoon, city officials expect traffic delays as early as tomorrow morning.

The convention center will be the latest stop on the Trump campaign trail across Pennsylvania; the town hall event is expected to start at 5 p.m. with doors opening at 2 p.m.

Temporary parking restrictions are already in place, but law enforcement still expects traffic delays throughout the day.

Vine Street will be closed between Christian Street and Queen Street beginning at 9 a.m. Residents are encouraged to plan an alternative route if they intend to drive.

The visit may also impact some sidewalks.

A city spokesperson told FOX43 that “Police are preparing and will have security measures in place to protect attendees and the public. Public safety, as always, remains our top priority.”

Trump’s visit to Lancaster is just one of several stops across the Commonwealth over the past few weeks.

According to poll aggregator fivethirtyeight.com, the former president is currently tied with his Democratic opponent Kamala Harris.

With less than 3 weeks until the election, many believe it is still anyone's race.

FOX43 will provide coverage of the town hall on Sunday night.
