'Horrible elections': Trump attacks U.S. voting system, media in Lititz rally

The former president falsely claimed voting machines can be hacked and called for the end of mail and early voting

LITITZ, Pa. — Former president Donald Trump attacked the voting system in the United States, and called for a massive curtailing of voting access in his rally in Lititz on Sunday.

In his nearly one hour and forty minute speech at the Lancaster Airport, Trump falsely implied that the 2020 election was stolen from him, and called on the elimination of all early and mail-in voting. He also called on states to use paper ballots, which are already used in 44 states including Pennsylvania.

"Every day, they're talking about extending hours," Trump said, referring to the county election offices staying open later before the election. "Whoever heard of this stuff?  We should have one day voting and paper ballots."

Trump also suggested that vote counting on election night should have a cut-off time.

"These elections have to be decided by nine o'clock, 10 o'clock, 11 o'clock on Tuesday night," Trump said. "For future elections, I won't even be a part of it, but you aught to damn well go to paper ballots, you ought to go to voter ID, and you ought to have the election over by nine o'clock," Trump said.

Trump commented on the approximately 2,500 fraudulent voter registration applications submitted to Lancaster County and flagged by County officials and its District Attorney, while incorrectly stating that the fraudulent documents in question were ballots.

"In Lancaster, they found 2,600 ballots, all done by the same hand, in other words, the same exact penmanship, the same hand, the same everything," Trump said. "And they say, 'Well, this is a conspiracy theorist.'"

Trump also attacked the news media, suggesting that any future attempts to shoot him should have to go through the media risers at his rallies.

"I have a piece of glass over here," Trump said, referring to the panels of bulletproof glass around him. "And I don't have a piece of glass there, and I have this piece of glass here, but all we have really over here is the fake news. And to get me, somebody would have to shoot through the fake news, and I don't mind that so much."

The former president accused his opponent, Vice President Kamala Harris, of causing inflation and allowing murderers and people from mental institutions over the border, and urged his supporters to vote on Tuesday.

"We got to get our country straightened out, or we're not going to have a country," Trump said "And you have a chance in two days. And if you don't vote, you're stupid."
