HARRISBURG, Pa. — Pennsylvania Senator Mike Regan (R-31) announced on Jan. 2 that he will not seek re-election to the Pa. Senate in 2024.
"It's been an honor to serve in our historic Capitol building for what will be 12 years at the end of my term," Sen. Regan wrote in a statement. "I've had the unforgettable opportunity to work for the great people who reside in York and Cumberland Counties and to work with many dedicated members of the General Assembly and staff who serve their constituents so well."
2024 marks 35 years in public services for Regan, serving 23 years as a United States Marshal, four years as a member of the House of Representatives and eight years in the Pennsylvania Senate.
In the statement, Sen. Regan says he's looking forward to spending time with his four children and wife.
Recently, Sen. Regan introduced legislation that would require armed security guards in Pennsylvania schools and would require the death penalty for killing a police officer.
He has also heavily pushed for the legalization of marijuana in the Commonwealth.
“We want Pennsylvania’s medical marijuana law to better serve the patients who rely on this medication for a variety of illnesses and conditions,” Regan said on June 21, 2023.
