BALTIMORE — The Baltimore Orioles announced they have cancelled the open workout and fan rally that had been scheduled for Tuesday night at Camden Yards in the wake of the Francis Scott Key Bridge collapse.
In a statement on its social media pages, the team said its thoughts are with the city.
"We are devastated by the news of the Francis Scott Key Bridge collapse, and send our thoughts and prayers to those impacted by this tragedy," the team said in a statement. "We thank the brave first responders and the men and women actively working on rescue efforts.
"Baltimore, we're a tight-knit and resilient city. Together we will get through this."
The workout and rally, which was scheduled for 6 p.m. Tuesday, was intended to give Orioles fans the chance see their team practice at the stadium, as well as participate in a Q&A with general manager Mike Elias and manager Brandon Hyde.
There was no immediate word from the team or from Major League Baseball regarding Opening Day. The Orioles are scheduled to host the Los Angeles Angels at 3:05 p.m.
