Car show brings out hundreds

A Father's Day tradition five years in the making brought hundreds out, all while raising money for a good cause.

SUSQUEHANNA COUNTY, Pa. — There's no doubt that the hot rods, souped-up engines, and classic cars are capable of drawing hundreds to this car show in Susquehanna County.

"Because it's like walking through the showroom, you know, back in between the 30s all the way up until the modern times," said Roland Leombruni, Scranton.

"The cars are so nice. They really are. And I'm really happy to be here again," said John Mills, Blooming Grove.

But those aren't the only things that keep people coming back year after year, "The hamburgers and the hot dogs at the stands are great," added Mills.

"The people, the people are so friendly, so nice, and the people that put this on are fantastic," said Tom Goldovich, Fleetville.

This is the fifth year for the car show hosted by Speakeasy Saloon & Resort near Uniondale.

This year brought celebrities and famous cars from classic movies.

"They bring even the Count in, and they bring the Grease cast in and the Grease car, and they do so much for different publications and different nonprofit organizations," said Goldovich.

Charities, including Camp Freedom in Lackawanna County.

"We can't do it without partners like this. And so them coming to the table has been just unbelievable," said Matt Guedes, Camp Freedom.

And other charities that hit closer to home.

"My wife was diagnosed back in January with ALS, and now we added that onto our list. We donate to Camp Freedom. We donate to Ruff Rescue Dog Rescue, and it's been going strong for five years, as you can see," said Jeff Durante, Speakeasy Saloon & Resort.

Making the growth of this event and its turnout very special, "Oh, it's phenomenal. It's just so amazing that everybody shows up and supports us. And we definitely appreciate it," said Durante.

"I mean, I'm truly proud of what not only my family but our business has accomplished and the community for continuing to support us through all these years and with all the changes that we've been making with the car show. It's truly amazing we couldn't do it without the support of the community," said Jordin Durante, Speakeasy Saloon & Resort.

More than 762 vehicles were shown at this Father's Day car show in Susquehanna County.
