Finding ways to stay cool

Residents are on a quest for relief from the heat.

MONROE COUNTY, Pa. — When inside is a little boring and outside is very hot, playing at the splash pad is just right, at least for Alicia Greagor's grandkids, who spent the day at Dansbury Park pool in East Stroudsburg.

"If you go in a regular pool, you're just swimming around. You've got to find things to do. Here, look at it. You can come out here, you can play, and you don't have to entertain them," Greagor said.

They came from New Jersey for a little fun in the water

"I was just at home, and I was like, I miss Pennsylvania and the pool. So I asked Mom, and she said yeah. So, we could come over for the day," said Christian Sacon-Greagor.

It was the same story at TLC Park near Tannersville: kids splashing around, smiling, and staying cool.

"It's been super-hot, and this is super-convenient with young ones," Courtney Demarest said. "A deep pool isn't always the best idea with little ones, but this is really, really fun and really, really easy."

These parents appreciate that a trip to the pool takes the kids away from screen time and video games.

"Oh, man, it's very important," James Ferguson said. "This guy right here loves the video games, man. You got to drag him out. The only thing he'll come out for is to get in the pool, so that's what we're here for now."

And that gets them into making memories that will last long beyond the summer heat.
