Board game supports public library

The game pays homage to the borough of Jersey Shore.

JERSEY SHORE, Pa. — Stacks of boxes fill a room at the Jersey Shore Public Library. Inside is a board game called Shoreoploy, which was created to support the library's services.

"We have a very large, well-attended summer reading program that helps the children of the area, you know, maintain the education and avoid the summer slide, and everything that we do to help people find jobs," said Charlene Brungard, Jersey Shore Public Library director.

Local businesses sponsored spots on the board game to help the library pay for production costs. Businesses also purchased deeds and game pieces.

"The cards, their purchases paid for the production of the whole game, so in that way, we're lucky enough that then all of the sales of the game," said Brungard. "That money will come back to the library to support us."

Multiple Jersey Shore businesses are featured in the game.

"Like the West Company, which was is one of our largest employers here in this end of Lycoming County; we have places like the Liberty Bookshop, the Shore Diner, Jackson Real Estate; we have Wayne Township Landfill, and a lot of other local businesses," added Brungard.

If you'd like to purchase the Shoreopoly board game, you can do so at the Jersey Shore Public Library for $30 or at the library's website here.
