Pennsylvanians digging out after Saturday's snow

Cleaning up and clearing out is how most neighbors in Mount Pocono spent their Sunday after nearly a foot of snow in parts of Monroe County.

MONROE COUNTY, Pa. — Cleaning up and clearing out is how most neighbors in Mount Pocono spent their Sunday after nearly a foot of snow in parts of Monroe County.

Melodee Bottari says she had no choice but to start clearing her driveway early Sunday morning.

"I'm digging out today. I work at the hospital, so I have to go to work tomorrow," said Bottari.

Christopher Lopez is experiencing his first Mount Pocono winter after moving from New Jersey.

"It's our first winter here. It's really enjoyable. I like it. I love the snow," said Lopez.

Lopez decided to shovel out completely by hand.

"I've been out here for about an hour, and I hit about two times last night with salt to try to melt the snow that was coming down," he added.

While more experienced neighbors, like Bottari, came up with their own method to tackle all that snow.

"My little battery-powered snow blower is no match for this, so I kind of have to shovel get the snow down a little bit, and then I can, and then I can snow blow it," said Bottari.

Despite how much Mother Nature dumped on their driveways, these neighbors appreciate everything the winter season brings.

"Here, it's a winter wonderland everywhere. Look at this! It's snowing right now; it's so beautiful," Bottari said.

"So, I have two small kids that were really excited about the snow, so they'll be out here in a little bit. Just trying to get it cleaned up for them," added Lopez.

They say they haven't had to shovel this much snow in years.

"We haven't had too much over the past few years, so I'm all good," said Bottari.

So, they're making the Making the best of the first big storm of the season in Mount Pocono.
