Students mark Feast of Our Lady of the Rosary

Students at Wyoming Area Catholic School observed the Feast of Our Lady of the Rosary with a one-of-a-kind rosary.

LUZERNE COUNTY, Pa. — One school in Luzerne County marked a feast day in a unique way on Monday.

Students at Wyoming Area Catholic School in Exeter observed the Feast of Our Lady of the Rosary with a rosary made entirely of balloons.

School officials say the balloon rosary serves as a great visual aid to help teach students the importance of the prayer.

"We teach the children how to pray; the rosary is kind of like a lost art anymore, and we do it with something that's so visual for little kids. And so bringing this rosary, this balloon rosary, to the school for them to see it and visualize it and pray with it on the Feast of Our Lady of the Rosary is wonderful. They love it," said Principal Eileen Rishcoff, Wyoming Area Catholic School.

As the feast day also fell on the one-year anniversary of the Hamas-led terror attack on Israel, the ceremony was dedicated to those lost in the ongoing war.

At the end of the ceremony, students raised the rosary into the air using fishing line before placing it near a statue of the Virgin Mary at the school in Luzerne County.
