No, Project 2025 and Trump's Agenda 47 are not the same | VERIFY

A controversial plan crafted by a conservative think tank has been gaining attention in recent months, but it's not an official GOP platform.

WASHINGTON, D.C., USA — As the race for the White House moves into its final months, voters are figuring out where the candidates stand on key issues.

Verify viewer Wilbur asked, “Is Trump’s Agenda 47 the same as Project 2025, just worded differently?”

So, let’s Verify using the two documents in question.

Project 2025 is a three-part policy plan created by The Heritage Foundation, a conservative think-tank, with the help of former Trump Administration officials.

The written portion, a 920-page document entitled Mandate for Leadership, lays out the group’s proposals for the next conservative administration.

But this policy plan is not an official GOP platform and is not the official agenda of Former President Trump.

His plan is called Agenda 47.

The Trump campaign’s website includes a 16-page document highlighting 20 main policy points and how they would be implemented.

While the former president’s campaign has repeatedly distanced itself from Project 2025, there are some overlaps between these two plans.

Both call for the ending of the Department of Education, closing the southern border with Mexico and ramping up energy production.

Both propose rolling back protections for transgender people, tax reform and strengthening the military.

Still, Project 2025 contains many measures not expressed in Agenda 47, including a proposal to remove some 50,000 non-partisan federal employees in favor of political appointees and a renewal of the former president’s “Schedule F” proposal.

Project 2025 also suggests dismantling the Department of Homeland Security and removing any mentions of the terms “diversity, equity and inclusion” from federally-funded programs and documentation.

While Agenda 47 does promise to “stop woke and weaponized government” and “root out wrongdoers, and fire corrupt employees” it does not make the specific proposals contained in Project 2025.

This is false.

So, we can Verify that, no, Trump’s Agenda 47 is not the same as Project 2025.

While there are some similarities between the documents, Project 2025 covers a wide range of topics Agenda 47 does not mention.

Former President Trump’s plan contains fewer specifics but does lay out proposals not included in Project 2025, including his “no tax on tips” proposal.
