Who are the Phillies playing?
The Phillies opponent in this first round series is the Arizona Diamondbacks, a club featuring young, athletic players that surprised in this year's National League West standings. Early on in the year, Arizona was in first place in their division.
Led by outfielder Corbin Carroll, the Arizona offense features speed on the base paths with pop coming from some key veterans.
The pitching staff is led by Zac Gallen and Merrill Kelly in the rotation, and Paul Sewald in the bullpen.
After Sewald's addition at the Trade Deadline, the Snakes found some success after struggling for much of the year with its relievers.
Ultimately, this is the first playoff run for the majority of this Arizona roster, and they are largely expected to be overmatched this series.
