Phillies reach agreement with Rob Thomson to keep him in the dugout through 2025

Thomson has led the Phils to a .568 winning percentage and back-to-back playoff runs since taking over in 2022.

PHILADELPHIA — The Philadelphia Phillies and manager Rob Thomson have agreed to terms on a contract extension that will keep him in the dugout through 2025, the team announced Monday.

The news was announced by several sources, including NBC Sports Philadelphia.

Thomson led the Phillies to a World Series berth in 2022 and a return to the National League Championship Series this season. Philly fell to the Arizona Diamondbacks in seven games in this year's NLCS.

Since he took over the team midway through the 2022 season, Thomson has led the Phils to a 155-118 record and a .568 winning percentage.

Thomson, 60, spent 28 seasons with the New York Yankees before joining the Phillies as former manager Gabe Kapler’s bench coach in 2018.

He was promoted to manager in 2022 after the team fired Joe Girardi following a 22-29 start.

The Phillies also announced two coaching hires on Monday - Dustin Lind and Rafael Peña join the Major League staff as assistant hitting coaches.

They will replace Jason Camilli, who was let go in October after the Phillies' bats went silent against the Diamondbacks.

Lind, 35, was the San Francisco Giants’ director of hitting and assistant hitting coach for the last four seasons. Peña, 33, spent last season as the Houston Astros’ minor-league hitting coordinator after five years as a hitting coach in their farm system.
