PHILADELPHIA — While it's still September for the rest of the world, Red October has officially begun in the city of Philadelphia.
After Monday night's victory against the Chicago Cubs, the Philadelphia Phillies are officially NL East champions for the first time in 13 years. Both fans and teammates celebrated this milestone after the game, but the excitement is only just beginning.
The team posted a hype video on its social media accounts in preparation of the upcoming playoffs.
The video features former Phillie and current color commentator John Kruk reliving some of the most exciting moments at Citizens Bank Park in 2024. Highlights included walk-offs from both right fielder Nick Castellanos and catcher J.T. Realmuto and a grand slam from shortstop Trea Turner. As the narrator, Kruk acknowledged the level of energy expressed by fans during each of these moments but emphasized that all of these moments took place during the regular season.
Kruk follows up the montage by asking, "How's October gonna be at the Bank this year? That's up to y'all, man, but I have a feeling of what it's gonna look like. Red October, baby."
The Phillies have five games remaining in the regular season.
