PHILADELPHIA — You don’t have to wander far in South Philadelphia to find a party, everywhere you look Phillies fans are ready to embrace the moment.
That moment is the National League Division Series.
The venue is Citizens Bank Park. And, as always, Phillies fans turn out and pack the house to give the Fightins the best home-field advantage in Major League Baseball.
With a series tied at one game apiece against the Atlanta Braves, the fans brought the full force of “Red October” to life to back one of their ace pitchers Aaron Nola on the mound.
Stanley Witinnski of Wilkes Barre made the trip down the Northeast Extension from Luzerne County. He had all the faith in the world in Nola.
"Last couple [of games Nola] has really turned it around, he is the ace the last eight years and he is going to put them away today."
There were minutes ticking down before the game as fans rushed to entrances. With every camera in their path, a “Let’s Go Phillies” chant could be heard.
“[I'm] very excited, I came to the game last week for Game 2 vs the Marlins,” says John Dougherty of Denver, Lancaster County. “It was a blast, had to get tickets for Game 3, It’s going to be rocking. Can’t wait till we get into the pitcher's head and hit some dingers.”
And rocking it was. Bryce Harper hit a mammoth three-run homer and solo shot, glaring at shortstop Orlando Arcia on each trot around the bases. The Phillies walked out of Game 3 with a 10-2 win over the Atalanta Braves.
The Phillies will play Game 4 on Thursday, Oct. 12 at 6:07 p.m.
