WRIGHTSVILLE, Pa. — From one generation to the next the Seitz name at Eastern York High School is a household one when it comes to basketball.
Arianna Seitz, a Golden Knights senior, is the latest to make history recently joining her dad, uncle, and cousin as one thousand-point scorers at the school.
"It's talked about a lot in our family because you don’t see four people in the family reach that milestone," said Arianna. "It feels good, it's always been a goal of mine and always talked about so it feels good knowing I get to join them up on that banner."
As a basketball family, the Seitz's have never disappointed on the court, all making it and playing at the college level, which Arianna will do next year at Clarion University.
"It started with me, to my brother, to my nephew, to my daughter, Arianna," said coach Jason Seitz. "We eat, breathe and sleep basketball and we all got to the college level. It's a rare feat but credit to all of us."
It helps with years of experience coaching as well Jason coaching the girl's team and his brother, Justin, stepping down after five years of coaching the boy's team. Both coaches have seen their children hit the illustrious one-thousand-point mark.
The family competition has always been there and remains to this day.
"None of us set out to do this, it's just the teams we played on and the type of competitors we are," said Jason. "The one thing we have always done is win and this is just extra for us to get on that banner."
Arianna has been coached by her father her entire career. When you have a family of legends to look up to, it makes the milestone even more special.
"We talk about basketball a lot and that helps us on the court," said Arianna. "Just being able to spend moments like this with him that, makes it special, he's my father."
The Seitz legacy continues with Brady and Arianna's sister Emerson as the next in line to hopefully add their names to the milestone banner.
