HARRISBURG, Pa. — Basketballers, get ready to shoot some hoops, because on Saturday, July 27, the City of Harrisburg will become "Hoops Heaven."
Kevin Garnett's Hoop It Up, powered by 3x360 Sports, is bringing the 3x3 Street Fest back to Harrisburg's backcourt. As many as 25 baskets will be set up in the City Island south parking lot.
From 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., teams will play in a fun tournament with Pro-Am teams with a chance to win $2,000 and an automatic bid to the Hoop It Up National Championship in November.
Open to everyone, more information on how to sign up can be found on their website.
The event is being brought back to Harrisburg by Drew Dawson, founder and current Managing Member of 3x360 Sports. Dawson, a Harrisburg native, wanted to bring it home.
"Getting back on City Island was key, and we envision this 3-on-3 event as having the same social footprint on the Capital Region as the legendary Gus Macker tournaments did for decades," Dawson said.
The urban street game is growing in popularity and will make its second appearance as an Olympic sport in the 2024 Summer Olympic Games in Paris.
