Phillies Bryce Harper assists high schooler with 'promposal'

The Phillies first baseman was apart of a grand gesture that has now gone viral on social media.

NEW JERSEY, USA — It was a day off on Monday for the Philadelphia Phillies, but that doesn't mean Bryce Harper took time away from the Phillies Phans.

In fact, Harper is part of a video that has now gone viral, as he assisted in a "promposal" or when someone uses a grand gesture to ask someone to their high school's prom.

According to FOX29, that's exactly what Jake Portello, a senior at Haddonfield Memorial High School in New Jersey, had designs on.

Portello told FOX29 he simply knocked on Harper's door to ask if he would help with the proposal.

After answering the door, Harper initially wanted to exchange contact information to plan the proposal out, but instead decided to assist with ask at the spur of the moment.

In the video of the moment that has now gone viral, you can see Harper and Portello at the doorstep of the potential prom date's house.

When she answers the door, Harper takes the lead, asking the high school student if she would go to prom with Portello.

She excitedly said, "yes!" before hugging both Harper and Portello.

The prom is set for June 14.

Portello told FOX29 that he wasn't expecting Harper to even open the door, let alone in assist with his "promposal."

The Philadelphia Phillies have Major League Baseball's best record at 34-14, and open a three game series against the defending World Champion Texas Rangers tonight at Citizens Bank Park.
