PHILADELPHIA — The Philadelphia Phillies are the latest Major League Baseball team to unveil their new Nike City Connect uniforms.
The team released a video on Friday morning, asking fans how they could describe the difference between Philadelphia and "Philly."
The answer?
"Philly" is more than where we are from, the video says.
And that is what these City Connect jerseys are aiming to represent.
Inspired by the flag of the City of Philadelphia, the jerseys and hats are predominantly light and dark blue with yellow highlights, including the Nike checkmark and around the sleeves.
Phillies players were able to see the players ahead of time during Spring Training in what MLB.com described as a "hush-hush operation."
Overall, the players' impressions were good, with comments ranging from how beautiful they were to being excited for wearing them.
Currently, the Phillies have four sets of uniforms: home red pinstripes, home creams, home powder blues and road grays. The City Connect uniforms will be the fifth. They will be worn for all 12 Friday home games remaining on the team's schedule.
