Penn State prepares for possible bowl destinations

While the official bowl game announcement will be on Sunday, it's never too early to start preparing.

PENNSYLVANIA, USA — Just like that, Penn State is already preparing for bowl season for the 2023 college football season.

With conference championship weekend on the horizon, bowl-eligible teams will learn their fate this Sunday.

For Penn State, their regular season ends at 10-2 and they are expected to receive an at-large bid. That includes the Peach Bowl, which the Nittany Lions have never played in.

“I think people would like getting out of the cold up there in January or December," said Peach Bowl President Gary Stokan. "December 30th is our game, we would welcome the opportunity. James Franklin is a quality guy so working together with him would be great."

The other options for the Nittany Lions could include the Cotton or Fiesta Bowl.

One thing is for sure, Penn State fans will travel, wherever the destination is. While the official announcement will be on Sunday, it's never too early to start preparing.

"You can't wait because people start that day making reservations the first four days," said Eileen Miner of Thompson Tours. "That first week is crucial,"

Miner says her group is currently gathering packages and plans for fans who plan to attend the game. Each city brings different challenges but traveling in groups is one of the most cost-efficient ways to attend a bowl game.

"Being ahead of the game is the key to saving money and getting a great bowl trip," said Miner. "I see people do it on their own and they say, 'Man it costs us more!' Doing it as a group is going to be more reasonable for them and gives them a contact all around on the arrangements."
