STATE COLLEGE, Pa. — The game was close, very close. The result is familiar, very familiar. Penn State lost to Ohio State 20-13 on Saturday afternoon in front of 111,030 fans, the largest crowd in Beaver Stadium history. By the end of the 60-minute top-5 bout, the first in 25 years at the stadium, just about all of the PSU fans were tired of watching the Nittany Lions find ways to lose their Big Ten rivals.
Head Coach James Franklin heard some boos as he walked off the field and walked through the tunnel back to the locker room.
"I understand their frustration," Coach Franklin said in his postgame press conference. "Guys in that locker room are just as frustrated, if not more. But college football has changed and we have an opportunity moving forward to right some wrongs from today."
Penn State came into the matchup as the 3rd ranked team in the country. They fall to 7-1 on the season but are still top contenders to qualify for the newly expanded 12-team playoff at the end of the regular season.
Ohio State was ranked 4th and improves their record to 7-1.
The Nittany Lions host Washington next weekend in the annual White Out game.
