DETROIT, Michigan — Penn State went Black Friday shopping and got their hands on a complete victory against Michigan State at Ford Field in Detroit. The Nittany Lions found everything they were looking for and performed better than the original tenants of the building did at home on Thanksgiving, the Detroit Lions. While the Lions couldn't handle the Green Bay Packers, PSU easily handled the Spartans 42-0.
It's the third shutout of the year for the defense who previously blanked Iowa and UMass. PSU outgained MSU 586 yards to 53 and held the Spartans to just five first downs the entire game.
The Nittany Lions have two quarterbacks capable of finishing off drives. Drew Allar threw for 292 yards and two touchdowns. He also connected with wide receiver Omari Evans on a 60-yard deep ball that traveled almost 70 yards in the air. Beau Pribula was brought in while the Nittany Lions were in the red zone and he delivered a touchdown pass to Tyler Warren in addition to his own two-yard run for a score.
Both running backs went over 100 yards rushing for the game. Kaytron Allen carried the ball 15 times for 139 yards. Allen added three catches for 17 yards and a touchdown. Nick Singleton was just as productive with 18 rushes for 118 yards and a score. Singleton also made an impact in the passing game with two catches for 68 yards.
Penn State won their tenth game for the fifth time in 10 seasons with head coach James Franklin. They now wait to hear where they will play their bowl game and who the opponent will be to end their season.
