MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — It's a game receiving national attention even before the kickoff. Several national networks have set up in Morgantown for Penn State at West Virginia including the College Football on FOX Big Noon Kickoff crew.
Penn State begins the season ranked 8th in the country and is trying to avoid an upset on the road against an old rival. West Virginia used to be a common opponent but Saturday's contest is the Nittany Lion's first trip to Morgantown since 1992.
The Mountaineers lost in State College last year to start the season 38-15 and are motivated to defend their home turf against PSU.
The last time they defeated Penn State at home was 1988. It was such a joyous and rare occasion that the students decided to storm the field and tear down the goalposts and the game wasn't even over yet.
The Nittany Lions have won 33 of the last 35 meetings with West Virginia and are a little more than a touchdown favorite to make it 34 out of 36.
"This might be the biggest road game to start the season of my career," said PSU Senior Linebacker Kobe King. "We're looking forward to it, we heard they have the loud crowd, loud atmosphere, we're just ready man."
Coverage of Penn State at West Virginia begins with Nittany Game Week at 9 a.m. The FOX Big Noon Kickoff crew picks things up at 10 a.m. with the kickoff right at noon on FOX43.
