Penn State vs. West Virginia game features a renewed rivalry for two York County greats

Former Central York QB Beau Pribula and York RB Jahiem White will meet on opposite sides of the field for Saturday's season opener.

YORK, Pa. — Penn State's season opener against West Virginia is the second year in a row that these two teams will meet to start the year. The anticipation for the matchup includes ties close to south-central Pennsylvania.

Penn State QB Beau Pribula and West Virginia RB Jahiem White are both former York County stars who play crucial roles for their team.

“It doesn’t surprise any of us," said York High Coach Russ Stoner. "Jahiem has worked for everything he has got there so we are proud of him."

On the opposite side, Coach Gerry Yonchiuk feels similar about his former standout.

"He's got so many people pulling him from all different directions," said Yonchiuk. "I just want him to keep his approach, do everything he's doing and I think he's going to have a tremendous year."

Both stars could be big factors on Saturday. White is the listed started running back for West Virginia, while Pribula is the certified backup, but has been hinted at having special plays for him this season.

Regardless of the outcome of the game. Seeing both on this stage is a win for the coaches and the area.

“We have done a lot of things to help get kids in York County exposure," said Stoner. "Both those kids have talent and when you have talent and you have connections you have chances to live out dreams."

The game can be seen on FOX43. Kickoff is set for noon.
